| The former roman colony that is now known as the city of Trier offers a rich 2000 year history with many remaining sights like the Porta Nigra, the Basilica, the Electoral Place, the Liebfrauenkirche and the Amphitheatre. All these famous roman sights can be reached on foot. Also worth seeing is the Old Town with the Market Square in which all streets of the pedestrian precinct empty.
