The Moselle town Traben-Trarbach was the place
of Goethe´s recuperation after having nearly drowned in in the river. A fortress
overlooking Traben from the 17th century got its name from the Mont Royal
vineyard, whereas the castle overlooking Trarbach is called Grevenburg Castle. Most of the
buildings, for example the magnificent Bridge Gate Inn, belong to the last 200 years,
because a fire has destroyed most of the older houses. In this jewel of Jugendstil
architecture one can try the local vintages in style. |
