Stahleck Castle is beautifully situated overlooking Bacharach and was destroyed by the French in 1689. From 1925 till1967 it was probably Germany´s most beautiful youth hostel and is now open for puplic to get an impression of the Hohenstaufen castle-builder´s art and one of the few water-filled moats. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
