Castle of the Archbishops |
| The Castle of the Archbishops in Andernach was a typical town castle to control the Rhine valley and the town itself. In1349 it was demolished in a rebellion of the local citizens. The quest for freedom failed ind the archbishop had the castle rebuilt at the citizens´ own expense. In 1689 the castle was destroyed by the French and remained a picturesque ruin. | |
